    Hastings County Museum of Agricultural Heritage

    The museum houses replicas of a dairy barn, cheese factory, creamery, butter and milk storage room, and farm kitchen and parlour; all from the 1940s. Antique tractor and farm machinery are also housed on site. Young and old, farmers and antique lovers alike will delight in the displays at the museum.

    Kawartha Settlers' Village

    Many original buildings from the Kawarthas have been moved to this site that forms a village in its own right. Tour through the homes, church and general store to capture the flavour of the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Several events take place at the village each year, including Settlers Days and the local Festival of Trees.

    Wesley Block
    The North American Hotel was once located on the Wesley Block. The coaching inn is known for being the spot where William Lyon McKenzie made an important political speech in August 1837, before the start of the 1837 Rebellion.

    Victoria Hall

    Victoria Hall, opened in 1860, features an impressive Palladian architectural style that recalls a Greco-Roman aesthetic. With the Grand Concert Hall and the Art Gallery of Northumberland held within its walls, the building remains a prominent fixture in Cobourg's cultural scene.

    Serpent Mounds Park

    Overlooking Rice Lake, near the village of Keene and 30 kms from Peterborough, outdoor enthusiasts can combine the camping experience with some historic sightseeing. The Hiawatha First Nations own the site, including the nine burial mounds. The largest mound has a serpentine appearance and is unique in Canada. Day users are welcome.

    Lang Pioneer Village

    An excursion to Lang Pioneer Village includes viewing 19th century buildings, exploring gardens and admiring farmyard animals. The site is located 10 km east of Peterborough. A plethora of events take place throughout the season. Guided tours are available.

    Austin Saw Mill
    This historic sawmill was built in 1874. The great fire of 1942 destroyed the building and most of the town. Reconstruction of the Austin Saw Mill is in the works to return it back to its original glory.
