    Buckhorn Lake
    Buckhorn Lake is one of the Kawartha Lakes and part of the Trent Severn Canal System. It has bountiful shoreline (70.5 kms or 43.8 miles). For anglers, the fish in the lake include smallmouth bass, walleye, largemouth bass, and muskie.

    Little Lake and Centennial Fountain
    Centrally located in Peterborough, Little Lake and Centennial Fountain is the site of the famous summer Festival of Lights at Del Crary Park. Built in 1967, the Centennial Fountain is comprised of a series of jets and coloured lights designed for nighttime light shows.

    Pigeon Lake
    Part of the Trent Severn Canal System, Pigeon Lake is one of the shining lakes in the Kawarthas. Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, muskie and walleye are some of the fish residing in the lake. Canoeing and kayaking can be enjoyable.

    The Trent-Severn Waterway
    The Trent-Severn Waterway is a picturesque 386km (240 miles) connection between the Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario. The route passes through many locks, including two of the highest hydraulic lift locks in the world. Many activities are available on route, including swimming, fishing and sightseeing.

    Lake Katchewanooka
    This smaller lake with the long name (Katchewanooka is interpreted as 'water of many rapids') is the first in line of the Kawartha Lakes. It is 8 km (5 mi) and .8 km (.5 mi) wide, and has many shallow areas that should be carefully maneuvered by boaters. Several fish species inhabit the lake, including walleye, yellow perch and large mouth bass.

    Lake Ontario
    Lake Ontario is the eastern most of the Great Lakes and the smallest in surface area, measuring 311 km (193 m) from east to west and 85 km (53 m) across. The lake serves as a national border with the province of Ontario on its northern and southwestern shores and the state of New York on its southeastern banks.

    Chemong Lake
    This lovely lake in the Kawarthas offers great fishing and boating opportunities. The Selwyn Conservation Area, a 3.5 km long trail with interesting terrain, runs along the east shore of the lake.

    Stoney Lake Ontario

    This lovely body of water is in the northern Kawartha area. Cooler, deeper waters and beautiful Canadian Shield terrain are features of Stoney Lake. Cottages for seasonal residents dot the area, though the yearlong population is increasing. Summer at Stoney Lake comes alive with Trent Severn Waterway boaters as well as anglers.

    Otonabee River
    Short in length (55kms/34mils), the Otonobee River is actually two very different rivers. The upper portion runs from Katchiwanooka Lake to Peterborough's Little Lake, and is surrounded by limestone and cedar lined shores. The lower level travels through woody areas to Rice Lake. The Otonobee River is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway system.

    Rice Lake

    Considered one of Ontario's best fishing lakes, Rice Lake is approximately 33 kms (18 miles) long. It was named after the wild rice plants that once grew around its shores. Other activities around Rice Lake include canoeing and nature exploration. Ample many resorts and cottages exist in the area.
